Dex Privacy Policy

Dex is a gallery wall planning app built to help you turn your wall styling ideas into reality. We know that the content you create (photos of your home, custom layout designs, artwork purchase details) is deeply personal, so we design all our data practices to prioritize your privacy while delivering the smooth, functional experience you expect from our platform. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what control you have over your information when you use Dex.

1. Information We Collect

• Account Information: If you choose to create a Dex account, we collect your email address, chosen display name, password hash, and points balance related to our premium unlock system. You can use Dex without creating an account, but your projects will only be stored locally on your device in that case.
• User-Generated Design Content: This includes all content you create or upload to Dex: photos of your walls, virtual frame placement and adjustment data, custom layout settings, artwork status logs (planned/purchased/installed), notes you add to your projects, and saved design comparisons.
• Usage Data: We collect anonymous data about how you interact with Dex features: which editing tools you use, export frequency, shopping workflow interactions, premium feature unlock events, and app performance data such as crash logs to help us improve our service.
• Transaction Information: If you use our shopping workflow to purchase frames or artwork, we collect your order details, shipping address, and contact information needed to process your purchase. We do not store full payment card details on our servers - all payment processing is handled by certified third-party payment providers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Deliver core Dex functionality: save and sync your gallery wall projects across devices, retain your frame adjustment preferences, track your artwork status, and process your design export requests.
• Manage our points-based unlock system: track your points balance, verify eligibility for premium features (including high-resolution exports, custom frame templates, and exclusive shopping discounts), and process rewards you earn.
• Process orders placed through our shopping workflow, sync purchased item status directly to your projects, and send you relevant updates about shipping and delivery.
• Improve Dex features: analyze usage patterns to fix bugs, optimize existing tools, and develop new functionality that aligns with what our users find most useful.
• Send you essential service communications: account verification messages, project sync status alerts, order updates, and important policy changes. You can opt out of non-essential promotional communications at any time.
• Maintain platform security: detect and prevent fraudulent activity, unauthorized account access, and other activity that violates our terms of service.

3. How We Share Your Information

We will never sell your personal data or design content to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:

• Trusted Service Providers: We share data only with vendors who help us deliver Dex services: cloud storage providers to host your saved projects, payment processors to handle purchases, and export service providers to generate your downloadable design files. All vendors are contractually required to protect your data and only use it for the purposes we specify.
• We may disclose your information if required to do so by applicable legal obligations, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Dex, our users, or the general public.
• In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business, we will notify you 30 days before any of your data is transferred, and you will have the option to delete your account before the transfer takes effect.
• Note: Your personal design content (wall photos, custom layouts, purchase details) will never be shared publicly or with other Dex users unless you explicitly choose to share your project via a shareable link.

4. Your Rights and Choices

• Access and download all of your personal data stored on our servers, including all saved projects, order history, and account information, directly from your Dex account settings.
• Edit, update, or delete any of your personal information or saved projects at any time.
• Request full deletion of your Dex account and all associated data. We will complete deletion within 30 days of your request, excluding any data we are required to retain for legal purposes.
• Opt out of non-essential communications via the link included in all promotional emails, or directly in your account notification settings.
• Control app permissions on your device: you can choose to deny camera access to Dex, though this will prevent you from taking photos of your walls directly in the app. You can still upload existing photos from your device gallery if you prefer.
• Opt out of anonymous usage data collection in your account settings, without impacting your ability to use any Dex features.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and saved projects for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete all your personal data and design content within 30 days, except for anonymized, aggregated usage data that cannot be linked back to you, which we may retain to continue improving our product. Exported design files are automatically deleted from our servers 72 hours after they are generated.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard end-to-end encryption for data in transit and at rest to protect your information from unauthorized access. We conduct regular security audits and update our security practices on an ongoing basis. While no digital service can guarantee 100% security, we prioritize data protection as a core part of our product development process, and will notify you within 72 hours if we discover any security breach that impacts your personal data.

7. Children's Privacy

Dex is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from users under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a user under 13, we will immediately delete that information from our servers.

8. Policy Updates

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes to our features or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes via in-app notification and email at least 30 days before the updated policy takes effect. Your continued use of Dex after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
